The Newest Member of Our Family What could possibly be more exciting than prefrosh? A NEW KITTEN!!! I did not get one (although I was very tempted to do so), but Kayla E. 15 drove Kerry N. 14, Jes P. 15 and I to the animal rescue place in Boston today to help her pick out a little companion for the new semester.  The shelter was so nice!! Every little kitten was getting adopted when we were there, as well as many older cats and dogs.  Every little kitten except for little Brittany! Kayla hasnt decided on a name yet (they called her Brittany at the shelter), but I really like Arya, like in Game of Thrones. The little kitten is so cute! She jumps all around and climbs on cages and pokes her head through small holes and is so curious and adorable. Her brother got adopted by a guy right before Kayla adopted her kitty, and when the two siblings were together in the cage she jumped all over him and tried to chew him and clean him, even though she was about half his size. She weighs 1.72 pounds! Meanwhile, everyone is outside building a fort. And I painted my door! And I painted a chalkboard on my wall! My door is currently bright pink. I saw Lana Wachowski talk about the show in Chicago in March. Unfortunately, were unlikely to see more Sense8 in the near future. Thomass  novel featuring the Black Lives Matter movement has been taking the YA world by storm, and for good reason. Starr Carter is a funny, determined heroine, and the novel begins just before we see  a scene of police brutality play out before her eyes.   The Vegetarian by Han Kang. Its a haunting allegorical novel about modern-day South Korea, that also tells the story of  Yeong-hye and her obsessions and trauma. It has OCD and anorexia rep, and is a twisted, strange story of attempting to understand others.   The Corpse Washer by Sinan Antoon. This novel takes place  in Iraq during the late 1980s. A fellow Rioter described it as an incredibly moving story about how war takes away possibilities from entire generations, and the first book they read that really made them see what its like to be a normal civilian trapped in a country under attack. Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened by Allie Brosh. This funny graphic novel is somehow the closest a book has come to capturing how I feel about my own depression and anxiety. Brosh captures mental illness through a hilarious, relatable look into her own everyday struggles. Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body by Roxane Gay. This one isnt out yet, but were now only two weeks away from Gays searingly honest memoir of food, weight, self-image, and learning how to feed your hunger while taking care of yourself. I was about to jump over this fence to save a life, and that life was my own. The story starts on a Tuesday. There was nothing different about this day. I woke up to my parents arguing about the cereal. The sun was shining just like it did on Monday. I dressed in the usual jean and t-shirt combo, and I was ready for school. Finally, I collated the results of the questionnaires. RESULTS The results obtained from the questionnaire do not directly link to the hypothesis of this experiment. What they do show however is that of the 20 parents asked 100% of children watch television and 50% of children have access to television in their bedrooms. In addition the results did show that 2 children did display levels of violence after watching television but the program in both instances was not completed on the questionnaire, for what reason I do not know. Furthermore the questionnaire revealed that the average time children are watching television is between 3-5 hours per day.. The children’s questionnaire did not support the hypothesis because the majority of children said they felt happy when watching the selected programs and none of the children felt angry. The majority of the results are linked to this experiment but not directly, they do support research of the hours children spend watching television and from what age .In addition the only direct link made was the 2 displays of violence after watching television a program, however more information would have to be gathered on this question for it to be conclusive. During the Archaic period of Greece (600-480 BC), statues and sculptures usually showed people standing, though sometimes portrayed figures reclining or sitting. They resembled Egyptian statues in that the figures were very straight and were rarely shown in action positions. Usually life-size or larger, these statues were meant to show the ideal body.
